Fire Brick: Fire brick differ from common brick in that they are special brick that withstand very high temperatures. The temperatures within a Rusian Stove would turn a metal stove bright red. Because they are also a masonry product, they too, store and control the heat that will be released into the living area of the home. They are placed in the structure where the greatest amount of heat is expected. That is the top, bottom, and sides of the fire box, and also the inside of the first loop of flue. Fire brick are not prone to expansion and contraction which helps to minimize cracking under extreme heat conditions.
